Wives of 1st Responders Therapy Support Group

Begins July 9th!
Day: Tuesday Nights
Time: 6p-7:30p
Cost: $35 each session
Location: Pathways Counseling Office

This 8-week support group is designed specifically for the wives of police officers, firefighters, EMT’s, and other first responders. Spouses of first responders can suffer second-hand trauma through hearing the stories of first responder spouses. They often struggle with fear and anxiety due to their spouses regularly responding to unknown and possible dangerous situations. In addition, attempting to manage the emotional weight and relational difficulties that often accompany first responders can create marital difficulties.

How do wives of first responders support their husbands emotionally and relationally while asking to have their own emotional needs met? How do they manage the weight of traumatic stories, the insecurity of wonder if their spouse will return home safe, and supporting the home in the meantime? This group will seek to help wives discover answers and healing around these questions.

The cost is $35 a week for 8 weeks for a total of $280. To ensure confidentiality and emotional safety in the group, the group will be closed once started, meaning no new attendees may join. If demand is high, we may start an additional group. There are no refunds or prorated fees for missed sessions.

NOTE: We recognize that many women are first responders as well. However, to facilitate greater emotional safety and vulnerability, we are limiting this group to wives. If you are the husband of a first responder and would like to be a part of a group like this, please let us know through our contact page.
